A newly uploaded ISIS video directed to Americans says, “We will drown all of you in blood.”
Reuters published the video, which was “uploaded [by ISIS] to a social media website on [August 18],” carrying the hashtag “#AmessagefromISIStoUS”.
ISIS has warned “that it will attack Americans anywhere if U.S. airstrikes hit Islamic State militants.” The newly released video bolsters this claim by showing footage of a soldier being shot and of U.S. military vehicles being targeted by IEDs.
The new video marks a turn from violence toward Iraqi soldiers to violence toward U.S. military personnel.
Videos and images released by ISIS and published by TOMO News in July, “appeared to depict the mass execution of Iraqi soldiers.” The images showed ditches lined with Iraqi soldiers–hands behind their backs–as ISIS gunmen walked down the line shooting each one in the back of the head.
The Associated Press reported that “Iraq’s top military spokesman has confirmed the authenticity of the photos” depicting the slaughter of Iraqi soldiers.
