Reaction Mixed Among ISIS, Taliban Supporters Towards School Attack in Pakistan

Taliban militants slaughtered over 141 people, mostly children, in a raid on a school in Peshawar, Pakistan on Tuesday. Radical Islamists took to social media to either condemn, praise, or remain neutral on the attack. The following accounts on Twitter regularly tweet about jihad and show support for radical Islamic groups such as the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL) and the Taliban. Nonetheless, some condemned the Taliban:

Other jihad-related accounts did not necessarily praise the attack, but attempted to make a case the Taliban were justified.

An account stating it belongs to former Guantanamo prisoner Moazzam Begg equates the massacre to alleged killings of children by Pakistan.

The Taliban deliberately targeted children. According to some of these radical Islamic supporters, the children killed were post-pubescent “army brats,” which justifies the killing.
