Guaido says Venezuela military helped him defy travel ban to reach Colombia

Cúcuta (Colombia) (AFP) – Venezuela’s opposition leader Juan Guaido said on Friday the military “participated” in him defying a government ban on leaving the country as he attended a charity music concert in Colombia.

“We’re here precisely because the armed forces participated in this process,” said Guaido, who has been recognized as Venezuela’s interim president by 50 countries.

He crossed the border in order to organize the entry of desperately needed humanitarian aid that President Nicolas Maduro, whose authority Guaido is challenging, has ordered the military to keep out.
