Maryland man wins $50,000 from lottery ticket he got for free

May 15 (UPI) — A Maryland man won a $50,000 lottery prize from a Bonus Match 5 ticket he received for free with a Fast Play purchase.

The Calvert County man told Maryland Lottery officials he frequently plays Fast Play games, and that’s what he was doing when he recently stopped at the Fastop convenience store on Chesapeake Avenue in North Beach.

“I chose the Lightning Cash Fast Play game and was surprised when a second ticket came out,” the player said.

The man benefited from a promotion that dispensed free Bonus Match 5 tickets to players who bought tickets for that particular Fast Play game.

The player checked his ticket the next morning and was shocked to see he had won the $50,000 prize.

“I couldn’t believe my eyes,” he said. “Total shock.”
