Meeting with Donald Trump Jr. promoted for India real estate project

Jan. 19 (UPI) — Real estate developers in India are promoting a Trump Towers project with an unusual incentive: The first 100 investors will be flown in to meet with Donald Trump Jr.

U.S. President Donald Trump’s eldest son, who is also executive vice president of the Trump Organization, is scheduled to visit India during a promotional event for the Gurgaon towers south of Delhi in March, The Guardian reported Friday.

The buyers will be flown to the United States, according to Trump Organization affiliates.

In a statement, Donald Jr had said the buildings in progress reflect “stunning architecture, beautiful interior options and lavish amenity spaces,” according to the Hindustan Times.

“Our goal was to bring the best of the Trump brand and luxury living to Gurugram,” he had said.

Trump affiliate in India M3M Tribeca Developers confirmed the incentive remains for the first 100 investors.

“About an initial 100 buyers will fly to the United States where Donald Trump Jr will host them,” said Pankaj Bansal, the India director for M3M.

Former members of the Obama administration are slamming the marketing tactic.

“Making Donald Jr available to those who can afford it in a foreign land based on purchasing a property is an ethics atrocity,” said Norman L. Eisen, a former special counsel for ethics under President Barack Obama.

“Access to the first family should not be for sale. It’s particularly inappropriate because we know he is in constant communication with his father, so it does create a conduit to attempt to influence the president and one of his closest confidants and family members.”

Eisen’s watchdog group, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, cited Indian media reports that state Trump-branded properties in the country have risen by 18 percent in value, following Trump’s election.
