March 11 (UPI) — Lionsgate is giving a glimpse of the new film Power Ballad.
The studio shared a trailer for the musical comedy Wednesday featuring Nick Jonas and Paul Rudd.
Power Ballad follows Danny (Jonas) and Rick (Rudd), a boy band star and a wedding singer who collaborate on new music. The pair clash after Danny makes one of the songs his own hit.
“When Rick, a past-his-prime wedding singer, meets fading boy-band star Danny during a gig, the two bond over music and a late-night jam session. But when Danny turns one of Rick’s songs into the hit that reignites his career, Rick sets out to reclaim the recognition he believes he deserves — even if it means risking everything he cares about,” an official synopsis reads.
The film is “a feel-good story about music, self-respect, friendship, and the price of ambition,” the studio added.
Power Ballad is directed and co-written by John Carney (Once, Sing Street), and opens in theaters June 5.
In real life, Jonas came to fame with the boy band the Jonas Brothers, while Rudd is known for playing Ant-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
