April 2 (UPI) — XO, Kitty, the To All the Boys spinoff series starring Anna Cathcart, returns with its third season Thursday.

The young adult romantic comedy-drama follows Kitty Song-Covey (Cathcart), the younger sister of To All the Boys’ Lara Jean, as she experiences life and romance while attending school in South Korea.

XO, Kitty Season 3 is available now on Netflix. Other rom-coms with Asian leads, a demographic historically underrepresented in the genre, include the To All the Boys movies starring Lana Condor and these six other films:

‘Shortcomings’

The 2023 comedy-drama is based on the Adrian Tomine comic and marks the feature directorial debut of actor Randall Park (Always Be My Maybe).

Justin H. Min (The Umbrella Academy) and Ally Maki (Wrecked) star as Ben and Miko, a couple navigating a breakup; Ben with the help of his best friend Alice (Sherry Cola).

Shortcomings premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and is available to rent on streaming services.

‘Love Hard’

The 2021 romantic comedy stars Jimmy O. Yang (Silicon Valley) as Josh Lin, a young man who catfishes a woman, Natalie, (Nina Dobrev) who shows up in his hometown and discovers the ruse.

Darren Barnet (To All the Boys) and Harry Shum Jr. (Glee) also star in the film from Hernán Jiménez.

Love Hard premiered on Netflix and is available to stream on the service.

‘The Half of It’

The 2020 comedy-drama is written, directed and co-produced by Alice Wu, and stars Leah Lewis (Nancy Drew) as Ellie Chu, a shy high schooler with a crush on her classmate Aster (Alexxis Lemire).

Inspired by the play Cyrano de Bergerac, the film follows Ellie as she agrees to help school jock Paul (Daniel Diemer) by writing his love letters to Aster.

The Half of It released on Netflix and is available to stream.

‘Always Be My Maybe’

The 2019 romantic comedy stars Ali Wong (Beef) and Randall Park, who co-wrote the film with Michael Golamco. Nahnatchka Khan directs.

Wong and Park play Sasha and Marcus, childhood friends who reconnect as adults and develop a romance. The cast also includes James Saito, Michelle Buteau, Vivian Bang, Daniel Dae Kim and Keanu Reeves.

Always Be My Maybe premiered on Netflix and is available to stream.

‘Plus One’ (2019)

The 2019 romantic comedy is written and directed by Jeff Chan and Andrew Rhymer.

Maya Erskine (Pen15) and Jack Quaid (The Boys) star as Alice and Ben, college friends who reconnect at a wedding and agree to be each other’s dates for the rest of wedding season.

Plus One premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and is available to stream on YouTube, Tubi, The Roku Channel, Hulu and Disney+.

‘Crazy Rich Asians’

The 2018 romantic comedy based on the Kevin Kwan novel is the first major Hollywood film to feature an all-Asian cast since The Joy Luck Club in 1993.

Directed by Jon M. Chu (Wicked), Constance Wu stars as Rachel, an American professor who discovers her boyfriend Nick (Henry Golding) and his family are fantastically wealthy when they travel to Singapore for a wedding.

Gemma Chan, Lisa Lu, Awkwafina Ken Jeong, Michelle Yeoh, Sonoya Mizuno, Chris Pang, Jimmy O. Yang and Ronny Chieng also star.

Crazy Rich Asians was a blockbuster hit following its release in theaters and is available to rent on streaming services. Sequels to the film are reportedly in the works.
