Read with caution. This is the kind of hell big government liberals can unleash on American citizens from their lofty perches in Washington DC.
In addition to having nearly unhindered access to our southern border, the most violent gangs in the Western hemisphere were armed to the teeth by the US federal government. The results are what one would expect. We know at least one US Border Patrol agent and hundreds of Mexican citizens were killed as a result. The guns are still out there and so are the gangs. Meanwhile, local law enforcement and border patrol agents must contend with the consequences created by elements outside of their control.
Their job is to prevent infiltration of guns, illegals, and drugs from entering our country and using local communities as bases of operation. Secretary Napolitano, with the approval from the Obama administration, has done her best to prevent border agents from doing their jobs. The Government Accountability Office estimated that only 15 percent of our southern border is actually operationally controlled. Inaction doesn’t do enough to explain this.
More liberal wisdom
Instead of going after the culprits, Eric Holder and the Obama administration, Democrats like Senator Feinstein considers this a great opportunity to introduce strict gun control laws.
Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said “perhaps mistakes were made” in the botched gun-walking program known as Fast and Furious, but she said trying to assign blame misses the larger problem.
“This is a deep concern for me. I know others disagree, but we have very lax laws when it comes to guns,” Feinstein, an advocate of gun control, said during Tuesday’s hearing of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Terrorism.
Of course we all know guns aren’t at issue here. It is more about the policy of the Obama administration to put the guns in the hands of criminals and drug cartels in the first place, while doing absolutely nothing to improve border security.
Not only has our government worked against local law enforcement and border agents in securing our border, they also armed the criminals who violate US sovereignty for good measure.
As if circumstances were not already advantageous enough for the cartels, now the government has become their accomplices.
