Teen Accused of Murdering Teacher, Inserting Branch in Body Gets New Rape Charge

Massachusetts teenager Phillip Chism was indicted Friday on a second charge of aggravated rape in the case where he also stands accused of murdering a 24-year-old teacher and posing her dead body with a tree branch inserted into her genitals.

As Breitbart News reported in November of 2013, a grand jury indicted then-14-year-old Chism on charges of murder, aggravated rape, and armed robbery against his teacher Colleen Ritzer in October.

Court documents revealed a brutal narrative wherein Chism allegedly forced Ritzer to have sex, slashed her throat with a box cutter, then left her body in a “sexually staged” position–placing a note reading “I hate you all” next to her and sticking a three-foot-long tree branch inside her vagina. The previous aggravated rape charge alleged that Chism sexually assaulted Ritzer with the branch, which was still covered with leaves.

On Friday, the office of Essex County District Attorney Jonathan Blodget revealed the second rape charge, which will proceed in juvenile court. Chism, now 15, will be tried as an adult for the alleged murder. He remains held without bail and will next appear in court on January 30th.
