Covered California Fails Again

Covered California Fails Again

On Wednesday California’s version of ObamaCare, Covered California, failed once again, as website errors cut off online enrollment. Thursday, the website flashed a message saying, “the enrollment portion of the site is being worked on.” The website explained, Covered California’s enrollment portal has been temporarily taken offline because of software malfunctions that were affecting the consumer experience,”

This latest problem followed a shutdown of the website for 24 hours last weekend for maintenance and upgrades. The errors have come at a critical juncture, as there is a March 31 deadline for enrollment.

Just this week, Covered California aired new TV commercials and radio ads primarily at Latinos, who are lagging behind in enrolling in ObamaCare. Covered California also asked more prospective customers to visit enrollment counselors.

Covered California enrolled 828,638 people in private health plans by mid-February, but has been plagued by hour long wait times for enrollees, faulty notices that were delivered to those applying, and a physician directory that got yanked down in February because of erroneous information.
