Decorated Marine veteran Christopher Marquez was eating dinner in Washington, D.C., last Friday, when, reportedly, he was viciously attacked by a gang of black teenagers, who asked the war hero if he believes black lives matter.

“They asked me if I believe that black lives matter,” Marquez told WJLA-TV. “I felt threatened and as if they were trying to intimidate me, so I figured I would just keep eating my food. Because I wouldn’t respond back to them, they were calling me a racist.”

The incident took place at a McDonald’s restaurant at 911 E Street, NW, just blocks away from the White House.

“As soon as I walked out of the McDonald’s I got hit in the back of the head, or the side of the head,” Marquez, who served eight years in the Iraq War, including the battle of Fallujah, said. “I just dropped to the ground.”

Marquez says his wallet, containing his credit and Veterans Affairs (VA) cards, was also stolen.

He said the incident brought back some of the worst memories of the war.

Marquez told The Daily Caller that he suspects race is the reason his attackers targeted him.

“I remember this group of teens harassing me while I was eating, they surrounded my table and kept on asking me ‘Do you believe black lives matter,'” Marquez said. “Then they started calling me a racist. I can’t recall if they were saying anything else to me at this moment because the blow to my head really screwed up my memory.”

Marquez proceeded to lash out at the media for refusing to report on the growing number of black-on-white attacks like the one he suffered.

“I believe this was a hate crime and I was targeted because of my skin color,” he said. “Too many of these types of attacks have been happening against white people by members of the black community and the majority of the main stream media refuses to report on it.”

Police investigators are currently searching for suspects.
