Texas Congressman Louie Gohmert will face his own challenger on Super Tuesday as voters in over a dozen states move one step closer to deciding which presidential candidates will battle it out in November.

Gohmert is seeking a seventh term in the U.S. House of Representatives in Texas’s primary on Tuesday. The former Chief Justice on the 12th Court of Appeals has a reputation for being anti-establishment. Last year he threw in his lot to challenge former House Speaker John Boehner.

Cattle rancher Simon Winston is running against the incumbent congressman under the banner that he is a lifelong businessman and Gohmert has been in Washington too long, according to KLTV 7 News.

Winston isn’t the only Gohmert challenger. Stay-at-home dad Anthony Culler is also seeking to take the seat.

Lt. Governor Dan Patrick told Breitbart News at Tuesday’s Ted Cruz Nevada Caucus night event that he expected approximately one million votes will have been cast in Texas by Friday through the state’s early voting process. Patrick indicated that this accounts for around 60 per cent of expected votes in the state.

Goehmert has endorsed fellow Texan Ted Cruz in the race for the presidency. Cruz will be fighting to take as many delegates as possible in Texas, which carries more delegates than the first four primary states combined.

Conservative radio host Mark Levin endorsed Gohmert for the East Texas Congressional seat.

“This man is a patriot. This man is a top-notch Constitutionalist. He’s in the breach. He’s fighting all the time. We cannot allow them to take him out. I want to give my full, complete, unequivocal endorsement to Louie Gohmert.”

During an interview with Levin, Gohmert said he has around $130,000 to spend in the race, while one of his opponents has put $300,000 of his own money in the bank to try and take the District 1 seat from the sitting Congressman.

Gohmert went on to tell Levin’s audience, “Some of Boehner’s staff promised some of us like me and [Congressman Tim] Huelskamp and others would have opponents and we’ve got ‘em, ya know a self-funder that comes out blasting pretty hard.”

Winston’s campaign website calls Gohmert a clown, “I’m frustrated that Congress has become such a circus, and that our representative Louie Gohmert is one of the main clowns.”

Levin responded that Huelskamp and Congressman Scott Garrett also have challengers. Gohmert then noted that “all of us opposed the Speaker [Boehner] and thank God we did and you know, well, there’s a price to pay for standing up…”
