Donald Trump’s resounding poll numbers in New York and a suggestion from the host led Ted Cruz to concede on Fox News’ the O’Reilly Factor that Trump will enjoy a big win in his home state.

“It’s likely that you’re not going to do that well in New York,” said the program’s host Bill O’Reilly. “It’s not about you so much is it’s about the state and what the state responds to,” O’Reilly reasoned before questioning, “Is that going to re-energize the Trump campaign? Do you have anything you’re gonna say on Wednesday to blunt it?”

“Listen, New York is Donald’s home state. Of course he’s gonna do well in his home state. When we were in Texas, my home state, we walloped him in Texas,” responded Cruz. Cruz then quickly moved back to discussing their previous topic, taxes. Cruz noted that it was tax day.

Cruz will hold an election night watch party in Philadelphia the evening of the New York primary. Cruz is polling in the teens and 20s in New York while Trump enjoys a wide margin in his home state.

In Texas, Cruz won an important victory, picking up 104 of the state’s 155 delegates. One difference at that point was the presence of Sen. Marco Rubio. Rubio suspended his campaign after a devastating loss in his home state of Florida to Trump. Surgeon Ben Carson was also still in the race at the time of the Texas primary.

Ohio Gov. John Kasich also won his home state for 66 delegates. It was Kasich’s only big-state win in the 2016 election season. Florida’s primary was held the same day as Ohio, but prior to election day Rubio had poured his energy into the Sunshine State. Rubio even went so far as to suggest that his Ohio supporters vote for Kasich in an effort to stifle the success of GOP frontrunner Trump.
