According to a report from Naples Daily News’ Maria Perez, illegal immigrants will not be excluded from receiving Hurricane Irma aid.

Perez explained that as her interpretation of Scott’s answer to a question as to whether “assistance would be provided to undocumented immigrants in an appearance in Immokalee on Monday.

After Hurricane Irma ripped up homes, damaged businesses and flooded roads throughout Southwest Florida, Gov. Rick Scott said Monday that he was going to help all Floridians.

And that could include undocumented immigrants.

“My goal is everybody in our state, we are doing anything we can to take care of them,” said Scott when asked whether assistance would be provided to undocumented immigrants.

Perez tied Scott’s remarks to a potential 2018 U.S. Senate run and pointed out that Scott had parted ways with President Donald Trump’s decision to end the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy.
