Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) released an ad Tuesday showing Democrat challenger Beto O’Rourke suggesting police are “the new Jim Crow.”

The ad is titled “War on Police” and shows Fox News reporting “Beto O’Rourke blasted the police … as the new Jim Crow.” The ad’s narrator says O’Rourke says officers take action against people “base solely on the color of their skin” and then plays a clip of O’Rourke saying, “I think it’s an apt description, the new Jim Crow.”

Denton County, Texas, Sheriff Tracy Murphree is shown responding to O’Rourke’s comments, denouncing them as part of a larger “war on police officers” that has been underway “for the last several years.”

Cruz’s ad comes one day after over 95 law enforcement officers released a letter supporting Cruz’s re-election and condemning O’Rourke’s language toward police.

On October 1, Breitbart News reported that O’Rourke apologized for comments about “phenomenally large breasts and tight buttocks.” On September 17, Breitbart News reported on a CBS News interview in which O’Rourke suggested AR-15 sales should be banned in America.
