Report: Allen Iverson to Officially Retire

Former NBA MVP Allen Iverson is reportedly set to announce a final retirement from basketball in the coming days. The extremely athletic point guard out of Georgetown who had an infamous distaste for practice last played professional basketball in 2011 in Turkey. The ever-controversial Iverson’s impressive list of accomplishments on the court is only overshadowed by his list of off-the-court issues.

Iverson was an 11-time All-Star, won four scoring titles, won one MVP award, accumulated career averages of 26.7 points per game and 6.2 assists per game, and possessed one of the most devastating crossovers in NBA history. However, Iverson also had multiple run-ins with law enforcement over the course of his career and was a polarizing figure.

In recent years, reports of money issues have surfaced and Iverson has attempted to return to the NBA. However, now two years removed from his most recent professional game at any level, it seems Iverson has finally decided to call it quits.
