Los Angeles ace Clayton Kershaw replaced Ricky Nolasco as the Dodgers starting pitcher when they tried to clinch their NL division series against the Atlanta Braves on Monday night.

Kershaw, the 2011 NL Cy Young Award winner, will be pitching on three days’ rest for the first time since coming up to the major leagues in 2008. He allowed one runs and three hits in seven innings during Thursday’s series opener at Atlanta, striking out 12 in a 6-1 win.

Atlanta won the second game 4-3, and the Dodgers won Game 3 by 13-6 Sunday for a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five series.

Freddy Garcia starts for the Braves.
