What do you do for an encore after catching seventeen innings of baseball?

When you’re Milwaukee Brewers catcher Martin Maldonado, you hit a walk-off home run to end your knees’ misery.

Perhaps with Khris Davis, Maldonado’s teammate who nearly lost a round-tripper for almost missing home on his trot last week, in mind, the catcher slid into the plate as a mob of his teammates celebrated.

”I had never done it before,” Maldonado told reporters. ”It was hard to get back up. Everybody was on top of me.”

The dinger gave Milwaukee a 7-6 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks in front of the Miller Park Sunday faithful. It stopped a ten-game slide for the Brew Crew. Most importantly for Maldonado, it ended the pain of spending half of a five hour, 49-minute game crouched down.
