Russell Wilson cited his Christianity to explain the decision to move his wedding from North Carolina.

“I’m just going to simply talk about, I just believe Jesus loves all people,” the Seattle Seahawks quarterback told reporters. “That’s honestly what I believe, and I just always constantly pray for world peace. I pray for peace in the world. I pray for joy. But my focus right now is just on the Cowboys and scoring in the red zone.”

The Super Bowl-winning quarterback married pop star Ciara last month. Their wedding planner told the KnotNews.com that the couple ditched North Carolina because of House Bill 2. The celebrity pair ultimately married in July in a castle in England.

“I did the whole thing — three times,” Mindy Weiss explained. “They were first getting married in North Carolina, but they called it off due to the transgender bathroom laws.”

House Bill 2 restricts use of multiple-occupancy public bathrooms in state buildings to people matching the biological sex indicated on the entrance. People who attempt to pass themselves off as members of the opposite sex call the law bigoted. Its passage prompted Bruce Springsteen to boycott the state and the NBA to pull its 2017 All-Star Game from Charlotte.
