School districts across Texas are reporting the receipt of threats similar in nature to those received by other schools across the United States. The threats were determined not to be credible and schools were not shut down in Texas.

Late Wednesday night Breitbart Texas reported that the Houston Independent School District (HISD) announced its receipt of threats. In a statement to parents and students obtained by Breitbart Texas, HISD said:

At this time, we do not believe the threat is credible. As a precautionary measure, law enforcement officers are currently conducting random sweeps of school district buildings to ensure student safety. We have notified surrounding law enforcement agencies and will have additional officers on patrol in the morning.

Dallas ISD also reported similar threats and those threats were also deemed to be non-credible, Breitbart Texas’ Merrill Hope reported. In a statement issued by Dallas ISD, the district advised they learned that the same or similar email was sent to staff in Houston ISD and Miami Public Schools, Hope wrote in her report. The district remained in contact with Dallas Police as well as the local joint terrorism task force since being made aware of the threat. A sweep of both Pinkston High School and Martinez Elementary was conducted. Bomb sniffing canines were brought to each location to assist with bomb sweeps and at 2:20 a.m., Dallas Police found no credible threat and released the buildings back to the district.

Elsewhere in Texas, Breitbart Texas’s Ildefonso Ortiz reported on threats received by the border community’s McAllen ISD. That district said its threats were also similar to those received by Dallas and Houston and were determined not to be credible. The district posted the following on their website:

The district was able to trace the email to the same server that was used in the hoax that occurred in New York and California earlier this week. Even though nothing occurred as a result of those hoaxes, it is important for the community to know that the district has followed the proper protocol by communicating with the local FBI Terrorist Task Force and city police.

None of the school districts receiving threats closed their schools. Extra police were brought on to provide and increased presence of security and safety.

Across the nation, other threats were received in Los Angeles, New York and Miami.
