U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials working in the Tucson Sector seized two vehicles, several illegal aliens, and hundreds of thousands of dollars-worth of methamphetamine and marijuana.
Border Patrol agents were tracking two suspicious vehicles traveling cross-country on a dirt road on Sunday near Why, Arizona, before they lost visual, CBP reported.
Agents were dispatched to the area using ATVs and discovered the two vehicles – stuck in a washed-out area covered with camouflage tarps to avoid detection.
Inside the two vehicles, agents found more than 1,100 pounds of marijuana. Agents arrested four Mexican nationals who were within proximity. All four Mexican nationals were illegally present in the United States.
On Friday, Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents flagged a blue Dodge Charger for secondary inspection after a K-9 alerted the agents that narcotics were present within the vehicle.
A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the seizure of 62 pounds of methamphetamine hidden inside. The driver and the passenger, both female U.S. citizens, were taken into custody following the results of the search.
The four Mexican nationals were charged with immigration violations since Border Patrol agents did not witness them inside the vehicles. The two female U.S. citizens arrested in connection with the methamphetamine bust will be charged for narcotics smuggling. All three vehicles, the marijuana, and the methamphetamine were seized and taken into evidence.
Breitbart Texas reported on Tuesday that Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents arrested two previously deported sex offenders that had illegally reentered the United States.
