The woman who drew national attention by placing decals on her rear window saying “F**K Trump and F**K you for voting for him” is doubling down. She now directs her vulgar speech at the Texas sheriff who arrested her on an unrelated fraud charge.

Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy Nehls says he received complaints about a white pickup truck displaying an explicit message toward President Donald Trump and those who voted for him. The sheriff took to Facebook to attempt to locate the owner of the truck, Breitbart Texas reported.

Nehls posted:

I have received numerous calls regarding the offensive display on this truck as it is often seen along FM 359. If you know who owns this truck or it is yours, I would like to discuss it with you … [o]ur Prosecutor has informed us she would accept Disorderly Conduct charges regarding it, but I feel we could come to an agreement regarding a modification to it.

Nehls’ office later received a tip on the identity of the truck’s owner. It turned out the owner, Karen Fonseca, had an outstanding felony warrant for fraud. His deputies promptly arrested her.

After Fonseca posted bond on the fraud charge, she doubled down and added Sheriff Nehls to her window of ire.

Sheriff Nehls responded to Fonseca during an interview Monday morning on KTRH AM740.

“She certainly is receiving her 15 minutes of fame. I almost believe it’s 15 minutes of shame,” Nehls told KTRH’s Jimmy Barrett and Shara Fryer. “She seems to be very proud of her behavior.”

Court records obtained by Breitbart Texas from the Fort Bend County District Clerk’s Office show a state jail felony indictment against Fonseca. The indictment charges that Fonseca “pursuant to one scheme and continuing course of conduct, did, unlawfully and with the intent to harm or defraud another, obtain and or possess and or transfer and or use the identifying information of [name removed].” The indictment continues, charging that Fonseca did not have the consent of the victim to use her identifying documents. The alleged fraud occurred between March 10, 2014, and April 29, 2014.

Texas law prohibits the type of display Fonseca placed on her trucks rear window. Texas Penal Code § 42.01. Disorderly Conduct states:

(a) A person commits an offense if he intentionally or knowingly:

(1) uses abusive, indecent, profane, or vulgar language in a public place, and the language by its very utterance tends to incite an immediate breach of the peace;

(2) makes an offensive gesture or display in a public place, and the gesture or display tends to incite an immediate breach of the peace;

Some people posted messages of support to Fonseca on her Facebook page, claiming her First Amendment right to free speech.

An attorney with the American Civil Liberties Union is threatening a lawsuit against Sheriff Nehls over the matter, the Houston Chronicle reported Monday. State Representative Ron Reynolds (D-Missouri City) also weighed in, demanding an apology from Sheriff Nehls. Reynolds, who was convicted in 2015 in his own criminal case, said the sheriff’s initial Facebook post (which has since been removed) is politically motivated as Nehls is reported to be considering a run against District 22 U.S. Representative Pete Olson, the Houston newspaper reported.

“I demand an apology from Sheriff Nehls for targeting (Fonseca) and making her life and her family’s life a living nightmare,” Reynolds said in a public statement on Monday.

Fonseca told reporters, “We have people of every race stopping us, wanting to shake (our) hand, wanting to pull to the side and take a picture.”

A video of the press conference is posted in the Houston Chronicle article.
