Christie Stands By Whitney Tribute, Condemns Attacks

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie made no apologies for lowering the State flags to half-mast in honor of Whitney Houston. In fact, he went on passionate offense against the scores of angry e-mails he received calling Houston a “crack-ho.” Christie said, “I did the same thing for Clarence Clemons, you didn’t hear anything about it. Why?…I just don’t believe that someone who has a substance abuse problem, that, what happens then is it eliminates all of the rest of the good that they did in their lives.” Governor Christie pointed to Whitney Houston’s philanthropy as well as her musical accomplishments.
