On Tuesday, first lady Michelle Obama attacked House Republicans for a bill aimed at loosening mandates in the 2010 Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act.
The bill would let schools waive the mandates if they have a net loss on school food programs for a six-month period. The first lady hosted a discussion with school leaders at the White House to address the legislation calling it “unacceptable,” adding that American kids are in a “health crisis,” and the “last thing we can afford to do right now is play politics with kids’ health.”
