Rubio to Obama: Learn the Lessons of 2001 and Lead in Iraq

Wednesday on the Senate floor Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) pleaded with President Barack Obama to act now to stop the advancement of the Islamic militant group, ISIS before they capture Baghdad and create a caliphate.

In reference to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, Rubio said “it’s a time to learn the lessons about history and apply them to the challenges of our time.”

He added that ISIS has “been growing in strength ever since the United States left Iraq” and said they were close to having an operational staging ground to “establish the premier Islamic caliphate in all the world.”

Several times Rubio called on Obama to take action saying, “Mr. President on this issue you must lead. You must put aside all these domestic political debates that are going on in your office.” Rubio also said this is not a partisan issue because the Islamic terrorist don’t care want political party their American victims belong, too. Rubio ended by saying the consequences of falling to act will be “condemned by history.”
