WH Spox Admits After 6 Years, Obama Admin Not a 'Perfect Example' on Pay Equity

Wednesday at the White House daily briefing, ABC News Radio White House correspondent Ann Compton questioned White House press secretary Josh Earnest over the White House not paying the female staffers the same as the male staffers, even though pay equity has been a go-to issue for President Barack Obama.

Compton asked, “I’m still confused on the pay equity if this has been a signature issue of the presidents for six years and he can’t even bring his own staff into closer alignment is a hundred percent pay equity simply impossible?”

Earnest replied the president was “pushing” and “its something we are aiming for,” Compton fired back, “You mentioned 77 cents per dollar. By that measure the White House still can’t reach a 100 percent.”

“I wouldn’t hold up the White House as the perfect example here,” Earnest replied.
