WH: No Slow Down of Gitmo Releases After Freed Prisoner Contacted Taliban

Friday at the White House press briefing, press secretary Josh Earnest said the Obama administration has no plans to slow down or stop the release of terrorists from Guantanamo Bay, even after reports that one of the five prisoners traded last year for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl is currently trying to make contact with the Taliban.

When asked if the development will have any effect on the White House, Earnest said, “No it does not. Simply because keeping the prison open undermines our national security.”
