Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) released a trailer for his new book “Our Lost Constitution: The Willful Subversion of America’s Founding Document” to Breitbart News on Friday.
In the trailer, Lee explains that he wrote the book “for readers who share my lifelong love of the Constitution, my quest to learn more about the pivotal moments of history that shaped it, and my growing frustration with the legislators, judges, and presidents who neglect and distort it.”
Lee states, “The book makes the case that big government, not only spies, lies, taxes too heavily, and regulates relentlessly, but it does these things in a manner that cannot be reconciled with the text and history of the Constitution” by telling the stories of clauses of the Constitution that has been neglected or broken.”
He continued, “The forgotten clauses of our Constitution need to be restored, and they can be. …These stories are our stories. They unite, and solve, and teach us about who we are and what we should expect. They give rise to new courage needed in a time when more Americans view the future with apprehension and helplessness. America is the story of a better tomorrow, expecting excellence, and settling for nothing less. We’re not about just hoping for the greatness of the past, but realizing that there is still more for a free people to do and to be. It’s time to usher in a new era of limited power in government and unlimited potential in American individuals.”
