Lindsey Graham: If It’s Hillary vs Rand, She Would ‘Tear Him Apart’

On CNN’s “The Lead with Jake Tapper” on Tuesday, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), a recently announced Republican presidential candidate, said considering the rising threat from radical Islam, his rival for the nomination, Sen. Rand Paul’s (R-KY) isolationist foreign policy would give an opening for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to “tear him apart” in a general election.

Host Jake Tapper asked, “If this issue is so important to you, and Rand Paul is so opposite and contrary to your viewpoint as you’ve made it clear, if it came down to Rand Paul versus Hillary Clinton, who is, for a Democrat, rather hawkish, why would you go with Rand Paul? It seems like you and Hillary Clinton are much more closely aligned on this issue that is so important to you.”

Graham replieed, “Well, I would vote for the nominee in my party because they have been able to prove to fellow Republicans that their view is right. Rand Paul and I agree on a lot of domestic issues like saving Social Security and Medicare. But on foreign, we’re worlds apart. If he did get the nomination, I think she would tear him apart, because his view of foreign policy is one step behind leading from behind, and at the end of the day, the average America sees radical Islam as a threat, much greater than the NSA.”
