11-Year-Old ND Boy Mows Lawns to Buy Headstone for Father He Never Met

After learning his biological father recently died and was buried without a headstone, an 11-year-old Fargo, ND boy decided to mow lawns for the summer to buy one, says a WDAY report.

Brandon Bakke was adopted at birth and started looking into his birth family.

That is when he learned his biological father, Terrance, died in Chicago but was buried without a headstone for his grave.

“I don’t think anybody should go unknown in life,” Brandon told WDAY.

After mowing lawns all summer for neighbors, Brandon reached out to Dakota Monument and worked with artists and designers to create a maker to honor his biological father.

Dakota Monument decided to reward Brandon for his hard work by donating the headstone to him.

“If he could see it, he would be proud of me,” Brandon said.
