President Barack Obama declined to say whether he voted for Hillary Clinton or Sen. Bernie Sanders in the Democratic primary in Illinois.
Obama was asked about his vote by the Wall Street Journal’s Carol Lee, but he did not appear willing to talk about the election.
“It’s a secret ballot, isn’t it?” Obama replied. “Okay. I, no, I’m not going to tell you now.”
White House press secretary Josh Earnest confirmed earlier this month that both Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama voted absentee in their home state’s primary.
“I can tell you that both the president and the first lady voted absentee in the Illinois Democratic primary,” Earnest told reporters during a press briefing. “I’ll let them decide if they want to disclose who they voted for.”
