Obama Comes Up 13,000 Democratic Votes Short in Sacramento County

There are 85,000 Sacramento County Democrats, and an additional 5,000 unaffiliated voters who punched ballots during last week’s presidential primary. Barack Obama’s name was the only one on the ballot on the Democratic side. Nonetheless, 8,000 voters left the presidential ballot blank, and another 5,300 wrote in write-ins. In fairness, President Bush had more people leave that ballot blank during his 2004 run. But then again, President Bush was widely controversial among Republicans in 2004 thanks to the war in Iraq, among other agenda items, where President Obama is supposedly less controversial among Democrats.

President Obama is just lucky there wasn’t an ex-con or an out-of-state lawyer on the ballot to compete with him.
