Colorado Shooter Claims Amnesia, Stomach Pain – Based on Batman Again?

Alleged mass murderer James Holmes reportedly keeps asking why he’s in prison. “Why am I here?” he says. One jail worker says, “He claims he doesn’t know why he’s in jail … He’s claiming his belly hurts him. He complained once that he didn’t like the food … The guy killed 12 people, and he’s upset that he’s not getting a four-star meal?”

If indeed Holmes is claiming his stomach hurts, he may be once again imitating dialogue from The Dark Knight. In that film, one of the jailed cohorts of the Joker complains of stomach pain – because the Joker has surgically implanted a bomb in his body. In Batman Begins, criminals also routinely claim mental issues in order to avoid jailtime.

Jail workers say that Holmes’ memory loss routine appears to be just that – a routine. “He needs to save his act for the jury because no one here is buying it,” said the worker. “Everyone is convinced he is faking it.”
