Bush: Obama Acted 'To Protect The Country'

In an interview aired on ABC’s This Week this Sunday, former president George W. Bush said that President Obama has acted in order to protect America. “I think the president got into the Oval Office and realized the dangers of the United States, and he’s acted in a way that he thinks is necessary to protect the country,” he said. “Protecting the country is the most important job of the presidency.”

President Obama has consistently stressed that he is not similar to George W. Bush in his presidential approach to the war against Islamist terror. He has recently come under fire for his National Security Agency’s surveillance of American citizens, an expansion of a program begun under the Bush administration.
