The father of former Utah Governor and Republican presidential candidate Jon Huntsman reportedly told Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) that Mitt Romney did not pay taxes for ten years during the 2012 campaign.
According to the New York Times, those details are reported in a new book about the 2012 presidential campaign, titled Double Down.
During the 2012 campaign, Reid told the Huffington Post that someone had called his office and said, “Harry, he didn’t pay any taxes for 10 years.”
“He didn’t pay taxes for 10 years! Now, do I know that that’s true? Well, I’m not certain,” Reid said. “But obviously he can’t release those tax returns. How would it look?”
Huntsman’s father denied that he was Reid’s source before calling on Romney to release his tax returns in 2012.
