Esquire Speculates 'Waterer[s] of the Tree of Liberty' Behind Boston Attacks

Jumping on the bandwagon of blame over Monday’s terrorist attack in Boston, Esquire’s Charles P. Piers has now sounded off, attempting to shift possible speculation from foreign terrorists to domestic ones. “There are reports of people missing limbs. Obviously, nobody knows anything yet, but I would caution folks jumping to conclusions about foreign terrorism to remember that this is the official Patriots Day holiday in Massachusetts, celebrating the Battles at Lexington and Concord, and that the actual date (April 19) was of some significance to, among other people, Tim McVeigh, because he fancied himself a waterer of the tree of liberty and the like,” Pierce writes.

He is not the only reporter to be thinking along these lines. Earlier on Monday, Luke Russert of NBC News tweeted something similar.

Ben Shapiro is Editor-At-Large of Breitbart News and author of the New York Times bestseller “Bullies: How the Left’s Culture of Fear and Intimidation Silences America” (Threshold Editions, January 8, 2013).
