How far will the federal government go to cover-up the fact that the Palestinian Authority (PA), which gets millions of dollars in aid from the United States, works hand in glove with terrorists who murder Israelis?
This far: Richard Leon, a federal judge in Washington, D.C., has ordered that a document be destroyed that reveals ties between the Palestinian Authority and the terror organization Popular Front For The Liberation Of Palestine (PFLP). In 2002, PFLP bombed a pizzeria in Karnei Shomron that killed three teenage girls: Americans Keren Shatsky, 15, and Rachel Thaler, 16, and Israeli Nehemia Amar, 15.
The teens’ parents filed suit against the PA, and during the discovery process, an April 2012 secret memo was inadvertently handed over to the plaintiffs that delineated the close relationship between the PFLP bomber, Sadeq Hafez, and Raed Nazal, a captain in the PA security forces who allegedly planned the attack.
After the memo was revealed, Leon ordered it destroyed when lawyers for the PA claimed it was protected information.
The plaintiffs have filed for a stay of the destruction order. They have also written the DOJ, the FBI, and assorted Congressmen in an appeal for help. The plaintiffs also assert there is evidence that the PA paid the rent for the PFLP’s offices in New York.
Scott Shatsky, Keren’s father, said, “This decision is incomprehensible. It makes me feel that justice is not being done. Maybe I’m missing something, but to me it’s just outrageous.”
