A Parisian court has given Andre Bamberski a one-year suspended prison sentence for his involvement in the kidnapping of the man who murdered his daughter.
Bamberski’s daughter Kalinka was killed in 1982 in Germany by her stepfather. Bamberski waged a decades-long campaign to bring justice to and avenge his daughter’s tragic death.
In 2009, German prosecutors stunningly dropped the case against the alleged murderer. Because Germany refused to extradite the killer, Bamberski took justice into his own hands, arranging the man’s kidnapping.
Later in October that same year, the stepfather was found near the German border in Mulhouse, France. His hands and feet were bound, and his head was bleeding, according to reports.
The BBC said the case has caused a rift between French and German authorities investigating the case. Bamberski admitted to the BBC that he signed off on the stepfather’s abductions but was not involved in carrying out the operation.
