Memo to Wannabe: Go Free Agency, Not Draft

Throughout the years, the NBA has had some unlikely submissions to the NBA Draft. Every year, there are a number of players with virtually no chance of being selected in the two-round draft who "declare" and leave school early for the remote chance of making it on an NBA squad.

While the league has learned how to deal with these submissions, they have now taken to offering advice. A New Jersey resident who drunkenly made a decision to declare for the draft, three years removed from college graduation, was told to become a free agent as opposed to going through the draft.

As a free agent, this hopeful could play for any team and be eligible to make more money. However, given the fact that it appears that this individual has not played in a minimum of three years, the likelihood that he will get signed would be slim.
