The morning after Sergio Garcia jabbed Tiger Woods at a European Tour awards dinner by saying he would serve Woods “fried chicken” if they ever had dinner, Tiger Woods went on Twitter (@TigerWoods) on Wednesday morning and said Garcia’s comments were not “silly” and they were “wrong, hurtful and clearly inappropriate.”
Garcia has since apologized for his remarks, which were similar to those made by Fuzzy Zoeller after Woods historically won the 1997 Masters, and Woods said he was “confident” there was “real regret that the remark was made.”
Woods and Garcia have been feuding since Woods defeated Garcia at the Players Championship when the mercurial Spaniard hit three balls into the water on the final two holes, imploding again when under some of golf’s brightest klieg lights.
The world’s top-ranked golfer did not directly refer to Garcia’s words or Garcia. He simply referred to “the comment that was made.”
The comment that was made wasn’t silly. It was wrong, hurtful and clearly inappropriate…

The Players ended nearly two weeks ago and it’s long past time to move on and talk about golf.

I’m confident that there is real regret that the remark was made.
