College Superstar QBs Hope to Back-up NFL Stars
Two of the most dominant college quarterbacks are now trying to land non-pressure back-up roles behind superstars. Tim Tebow hopes to back-up (or even catch passes from) Tom Brady, and Sports Grid had fun with the announcement about Young with the headline, “Vince Young is Replacing* Aaron Rodgers.” (pictured at a past stop with the Bills)
Both quarterbacks ran over opponents for national titles, but have awkward throwing motions that NFL coaches have so far been unable to fix.
Tebow threw for 208 yards and ran for 109 to lead Florida past Oklahoma to cap the 2008 season with a BCS title, 24-14. Two years earlier he was a back-up when the Gators destroyed Ohio State 41-14 for the title.
Vince Young stunned what ESPN was hyping as the best team ever – the USC Trojans – 41-38. Young threw for 267 yards, and ran for another 200 to  cap the 2005 season. (BCS games actually played in January of the following year).
