Larry Johnson Responds to Sterling's Remarks: Start All-Black League
Everyone is weighing in on Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling’s alleged racist remarks to his girlfriend, including New York Knicks executive Larry Johnson. His response? Segregation!
How does segregation solve racism?
Johnson made similar remarks back in the 1999 NBA Finals between the Knicks and San Antonio Spurs.
Johnson caused a stir by saying: “We’ve got a lot of rebellious slaves on this [Knicks] team.”
When asked at the time why he referred to his teammates as slaves, Johnson said: “I’ve got to explain that to you? We don’t go with the mainstream.’’
The Clippers protested Sterling before their game against the Golden State Warriors by wearing their t-shirts inside out. Magic Johnson said he would not go to another Clippers game and President Obama said Sterling’s comments were incredibly offensive.
