Al Qaeda Push to Strike U.S. Open Makes NYC Jumpy

An article in a terrorist publication encourages readers to kill spectators at the U.S. Open tennis tournament.

The article, “Car Bombs Inside America,” provides readers instruction in how to make explosive devices. The al Qaeda-published Inspire magazine encourages readers to go after humans rather than mere property in their terrorist attacks. The extremist publication counsels, “The important thing is that you target people and not buildings.”

Breitbart reported on the article earlier this year. The Big Apple press today emphasized the section dealing with the U.S. Open, as the New York City tournament fast approaches.

“America is our first target, followed by United Kingdom, France and other crusader countries,” Inspire notes. Specifically, the article points to the U.S. Open. Inspire suggests targeting tennis venues “visited by thousands of people, and high-profile people, especially the U.S. Open.”

The Grand Slam event runs from August 25 through September 8 in Queens. Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams won last year’s U.S. Open.
