Immigration Activist: 'I Called ICE And Asked Why Aren't You Deporting Me?'

Illegal immigrant activist Jose Antonio Vargas, who was detained by Border Patrol in Texas after attempting to board a plane to Los Angeles yesterday, told Fusion TV’s Jorge Ramos he actually called the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and asked them why he was not being deported.

Vargas wouldn’t say what the agency told him but no action was taken. The immigration reform advocate then said because he is  here and pays taxes this is his home and he said, “I am an American and he is just waiting for my country to recognize it.”

Vargas became an illegal immigration advocate when by revealing he was undocumented in a column for The New York Times Magazine in 2011.
