Pentagon: It 'Strains Credulity' That Rebels Could Launch Missile Without Russian Assistance

Friday during a Pentagon press briefing, Press Secretary Rear Admiral John Kirby said the missile that downed Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17 was “a sophisticated piece of technology,” so he added, “It strains credulity to think that it could be used by separatists without at least some measure of Russian support and technical assistance.”

After CNN’s Barbara Starr asked, “They didn’t just do it on their own?” Kirby repeated, “I said it strains credulity to think that they could do this without some measure of Russian support and assistance.”
