President Obama's National Guard Fact Finders Skip Rick Perry's Input

SAN ANTONIO, Texas–Breitbart Texas has learned that the team President Obama is sending to study the “helpfulness” of deploying the Texas National Guard to portions of the Texas-Mexico border has not yet requested a meeting with Governor Rick Perry or his staff.

The President directed Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel to send the team to evaluate the situation and report back to the White House as to whether the deployment would be helpful.

At this point, it is not clear to whom the fact-finding tour members will be talking. Responding to an inquiry from Breitbart Texas, Lucy Nash, Gov. Perry’s press secretary, said, “Our office has not been asked to meet with them.” As to whether the team has requested a meeting with Major General John Nichols, Texas Military Forces adjutant general, Nash referred this reporter to Gen. Nichols’ public affairs office.

Earlier this month, Gov. Perry met with Obama to discuss the border crisis. At that time, the President turned down Perry’s invitation to tour the border region and see the extent of the crisis for himself.

The fact-finding team is composed of members of the Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security.
