Houston, Texas — Law enforcement officers shot a man in his home during the execution of a search warrant in Sugar Land, Texas, southwest of Houston. The shooting occurred while officers and agents of multiple law enforcement agencies were conducting a search of the home.
Officers from multiple agencies were at the scene of the search when the shooting occurred according to a news report on KHOU TV 11. The task force included agents from the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). The warrant was being executed by the DEA.
The man who was shot was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to the hospital. His condition is not known at this time. He was allegedly a suspect in a multi-agency task force investigation.
The suspect was shot one time by an officer using a handgun according to Sugar Land Police Department Public Information Officer, Doug Adolph in a phone interview with Breitbart Texas. That was the only shot fired by police. He was not able to confirm at this time if any shots were fired by the suspect. It is not known if there is any cartel connection to this apparent drug enforcement raid.
“This was a DEA led raid,” said Adolph. “It was conducted with the assistance of task force members from the Houston Police Department. Our agency (Sugar Land PD) was not involved in the raid but is investigating the officer involved shooting as it occurred in our jurisdiction.”
“The suspect was shot in the abdomen by an officer using his handgun,” Adolph explained. “He is expected to survive his wound.”
No officers were injured in the raid. The raid occurred in a residential neighborhood about 20 miles southwest of Houston near US 59 and State Highway 6.
