Cops: Woman Slashed 2 People With Scissors Over Bingo Winnings

ASHLAND, Mo. - A Jefferson City woman is behind bars, charged with armed criminal action and first-degree domestic assault, after police say she assaulted two people over a dispute about how to split bingo winnings. 51-year-old Margaret Thomas was reportedly driving on Highway 63 with two passengers when the argument broke out. Police say she pulled over, grabbed a scissors and slashed a passenger in the face.

Ashland Police Department Chief Lyn Woolford said that one of the victims required 32 stitches in her cheek. A second passenger was also injured while trying to to help the first victim but the extent of those injuries was not reported. Woolford said that Thomas fled the scene, leaving the victims on the side of the highway. She was later arrested by local police and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Authorities believe the dispute stemmed from how to divvy up $200 in bingo winnings.

Thomas remains in the Boone County Jail on a $150,000 bond.
