Judicial Watch Mulls Lawsuit Challenging Obamacare Rewrites

Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton announced on Tuesday his group Judicial Watch, a conservative watchdog organization, is considering suing President Barack Obama’s administration to challenge the president’s decision to rewrite Obamacare several times administratively since the law passed. 

“Judicial Watch is considering litigation challenging President Obama’s rewriting of Obamacare,” Fitton wrote in a letter to Judicial Watch supporters on Tuesday. “Specifically, President Obama has unilaterally rewritten the law to delay the ’employer mandate,’ which was scheduled to go in effect on January 1, 2014, for at least a year. At the same time, he did not rewrite the law to delay the ‘individual mandate,’ which requires nearly all Americans to have Obama-approved health insurance by that same date or pay a tax penalty.”

As Breitbart News has reported, Tea Party lawmakers like Sens. Mike Lee (R-UT) and Ted Cruz (R-TX) are fighting to defund Obamacare in the upcoming Continuing Resolution (CR) that funds government operations. In a recent interview with Breitbart News on the plan, Lee argued one of the major reasons for the fight is because the president’s healthcare law is unfair to ordinary Americans, while members of Congress and Wall Street corporations have gotten waivers and bailouts allowing them to not comply with the law.

Fitton laid out how Judicial Watch is considering litigation against all these changes to the law and how the ordinary people in America are hurting because of these special interests fending for themselves.

“Many Americans are caught in the middle,” Fitton wrote. “They are obligated to have Obama-approved health insurance, but their employers are not obligated to provide it, at least for another year. As a result, these Americans will be forced to purchase Obama-approved health insurance on an Obamacare-created health insurance exchange or pay the tax penalty. Either way, they’re out-of-pocket.”
