Limbaugh: ‘Nothing Healthy Going On’ in Planned Parenthood

Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh reminds his listeners that one of the greatest examples of the Left’s attack on common language for the purposes of engineering a cultural shift is the idea that Planned Parenthood somehow is “women’s healthcare.”

“This is one of the greatest illustrations of the butchery, if you will, of our culture and the literal attack on words to call what happens in a Planned Parenthood clinic ‘health,’” Limbaugh said. “Whether you preface it by saying women’s health or whatever, there’s nothing healthy going on in here.”

A case in point is a campaign email, forwarded to Breitbart News, that features Las Vegas, Nevada Assemblyman John Oceguera, a Democrat running for Congress, attempting to fundraise off the recent videos showing Planned Parenthood senior medical officials engaged in harvesting the body parts of aborted babies for sale to biomedical companies.

Oceguera’s campaign refers to the videos as “deceptively edited” and “meant to smear Planned Parenthood.” Using the “war on women” meme, the email continues that “Republicans in Congress are on the attack.”

“It’s sick, and it’s time to stand up to the anti-choice madness,” the Oceguera campaign states. “Planned Parenthood provides birth control, counseling, family planning services, cancer screenings, and so much more to millions of women across the country. Shutting down Planed [sic] Parenthood would be devastating for women and would only result in more unplanned pregnancies.”

Limbaugh reminds listeners that the Left’s twisting of language so that the nation’s largest abortion provider is viewed as a place women go when they want to plan their families — rather than get an abortion — has been effective.

I would venture to say that a lot of people look at it and think that it is a place you go where you want to talk to experts about how to plan your family, and they will advise you how many kids to have, what it’s going to cost you. That’s what I think most people think Planned Parenthood is. It says “Planned Parenthood” over the door, doesn’t it?  It doesn’t say, “We do abortions here and harvest the organs for sale!”  It says “Planned Parenthood.”

You couple that with all the news that has been out for decades about how Planned Parenthood is all about “women’s health,” and what do you think most people think it is? A place to go plan your family when you need some help. They probably think it’s a great service! “What’s wrong with planning your family? Most people should do that,” a lot of people think. I think there’s a disconnect. It’s about words, and more than words it’s about how long the words have been in the popular vernacular.

Using those “words,” Senate Democrats sounded the call for the “war on women’s healthcare” this week after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced he would hold a vote to defund Planned Parenthood next week.

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid charged Republicans with “an attack on women’s health,” as The Hill reported, while Sen. Patty Murray said, “I am furious that Republicans are once again trying to take away basic health care services for 2.7 million women. We have stood strong before that we are going to make sure that women in this country have health care available, Planned Parenthood provides it. For Republicans to take it away is wrong.”

Similarly, presidential contender Sen. Bernie Sanders said, “The vast majority of government funding that Planned Parenthood receives is through Medicaid reimbursements. Cutting that funding will be devastating to the health needs of millions of women who desperately need the quality services Planned Parenthood provides.”
